Stephanie represents and counsels journalists, artists, activists, attorneys and judges, and everyday citizens in matters implicating their civil liberties. Her background spans private practice, public interest law, and government affairs, equipping her to advocate for her clients across a diverse range of matters.

In the nonprofit sector, Stephanie served as Senior Program Counsel at the Washington, D.C. office of the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE), one of the nation’s leading First Amendment organizations. Stephanie engaged with individuals across the country to address censorship by government and K–12 education officials, helped craft institutional positions on emerging free speech issues, and fielded press inquiries. Her advocacy and lobbying led to revisions in laws and administrative policies to ensure constitutional compliance. Stephanie also served as in-house counsel to a national news organization where she advised investigative journalists on newsgathering operations and news releases, and helped oversee a portfolio of defamation and First Amendment right-to-record litigation.

In private practice, Stephanie was associate counsel to a litigation firm that handled high-profile cases involving vaccine exemptions, employer DEI programming, and some of the first parental rights in K–12 gender-transitioning cases in New Jersey. Stephanie was also associate counsel to a firm representing service members, veterans, and federally commissioned officers in criminal, military, and administrative law matters. She handled plea negotiations, pretrial detention hearings, restraining order trials, VA and military disability appeals, military discharge upgrades, and separation proceedings, securing awards exceeding $1 million.

Before practicing law, Stephanie was Chief of Staff to Jack Ciattarelli during his tenure in the New Jersey General Assembly and oversaw a district spanning four counties and 14 municipalities. She handled legislative affairs and ran his district office, managing over 50 aides and interns throughout his successive terms. She truly enjoyed mentoring these young professionals, many of whom have launched successful careers in politics and law.

Her passion for civil liberties was shaped by her immigrant parents who made significant sacrifices to escape communism and a dictatorship under martial law. Her parents unknowingly created a civil liberties monster and now wish she would pursue less controversial areas of law like personal injury. Stephanie has provided pro bono services to disabled veterans, citizen journalists, and her degenerate musician friends in the punk and metal communities. She is a member of the First Amendment Lawyers Association, whose listserv is just as chaotic as you would imagine it to be. Stephanie splits her time between Washington D.C. and the People’s Republic of New Jersey.
